High-Throughput Method for Dynamic Measurements of Cellular Viability Using a FLUOstar OPTIMA
BMG LABTECH

We show that the propidium iodide (PI) assay performed on the FLUOstar OPTIMA from BMG LABTECH is a very useful tool for monitoring neuronal viability. It allows a complete analysis of the dynamics of the response to a specific substance.
Numerous parameters, including lag times and rates of death can be assessed using this PI method. The FLUOstar OPTIMA is a flexible microplate reader able to record PI fluorescence over very long periods.

A global abstract analysis of selected histone-modifying enzymes using AKS
Active Motif

A global abstract analysis (GAA) was performed on twelve histone-modifying enzymes (ASH1, CARM1, CBP, CKII, EZH2, MSK1, MST1, NSD1, PCAF, RIZ1, SIRT2 and TIP60) to demonstrate how this approach can help uncover biological relationships, scientific information, and overall publication trends from PubMed abstracts and related biological databases. This GAA study showed that published research of histone-modifying enzymes has increased significantly since 2001 and that many reported studies have fo

Promega’s Multiplexed Luciferase Reporter and Cell Viability Assays performed on the PHERAstar
BMG LABTECH and Promega Corporation

By multiplexing a reporter assay (EnduRen™, ViviRen™) with a cell viability assay (CellTiter-Glo®), it is possible to determine if reporter response variations are due to changes in cell number and health. In this poster, we demonstrate the combination of several Promega cell-based assays multiplexed in both low-volume 384- and 1536-well plate formats using the BMG LABTECH PHERAstar microplate reader to record luminescence.

A High Throughput Approach for Metabolite Profiling and Characterization Using the LXQ Linear Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer
Thermo Fisher Scientific

A high throughput LC-MS/MS approach has been developed for metabolic profiling using the LXQ linear ion trap mass spectrometer. The rapid LC-MS/MS method made use of Data-Dependent™ acquisitions to study known metabolites and to uncover unexpected metabolites. The identification and characterization of glyburide along with 19 metabolites was accomplished in a single LC run of approximately three minutes using the fast cycle time, high sensitivity and excellent spectral quality of this instrument

Understanding Metabonomics Mixtures with PCA
Bio-Rad Laboratories, Infometrix Inc.

In toxicology studies, alterations to the intrinsic in vivo biochemical profile of an animal can be monitored via NMR spectroscopic analysis of urine. Chemometric processing of the NMR data can enhance understanding of the toxic effects; in particular, examination of the principal component analysis (PCA) scores provides insight into these data in a time-efficient manner.

Toward Diagnosis of Diabetes by NMR and Multivariate Analysis
Bio-Rad Laboratories, Infometrix Inc.

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) is becoming a key tool for understanding the metabolic processes in living systems. Among its many applications, advanced spectroscopic techniques are combined with multivariate statistical approaches to provide diagnostic information for diseases and to identify the changes in the metabolic pathways.

Overlap Density Heatmaps: A Novel Approach to Metabolomics Research
Bio-Rad Laboratories, Infometrix Inc.,

In this study, we introduce a novel tool, the Overlap Density Heatmap (ODH), for the visualization and quantitative evaluation of the (dis)similarity in massive amounts of spectral chromatographic data. The new spectral visualization tool was applied to a study of the H MNR spectra of human serum samples from 37 diabetic and non-diabetic subjects.
